Neuromuscular Therapy NMT is an orthopedic soft tissue release technique that balances the musculoskeletal and nervous systems to release underlying structural imbalances that cause pain and restriction. It utilizes postural analysis to pinpoint soft tissue imbalance and release thickened fascia and ischemic (without blood circulation) restrictions in the soft tissues to ensure optimal posture, movement and soft tissue function. NMT also dissolves trigger points which refer pain to other areas of the body. It is very beneficial for: headaches, carpal tunnel syndrome, thoracic outlet syndrome, repetitive strain injuries, rotator cuff injury, frozen shoulder, sciatica, torticollis, whiplash, TMJ dysfunction, hip pain, shoulder pain, neck pain and back pain. Sessions are tailored to relieve the client’s unique soft tissue strain patterns.

NMT incorporates:

Posture and Gait Analysis – to diagnose soft tissue imbalance and develop a treatment plan specific to the client’s unique strain pattern.

Trigger Point Myotherapy – to release restrictions in the soft tissues that refer pain to other places in the body. Muscle tension headaches are an example of pain caused by trigger points or muscular restrictions commonly located in the neck, throat, jaw, upper back or shoulders.

Myofascial Therapy – to release restrictions in the fascia (connective tissue) that inhibits proper soft tissue function and optimal movement.

Cranial Decompression – to decrease compression on the cranial bones, open the sinuses and release temporomandibular joint tension.

Visceral Massage – to promote optimal digestion and release tension in the viscera that inhibits function and can refer pain to distant sites.

Therapeutic Stretching and Exercise – to further rehabilitation and develop a home program that allows the client to maintain their health.

Biomechanical & Ergonomic Evaluation – to determine dysfunctional movement patterns and ill fitting work or sports equipment that can stress the body in daily activities and create soft tissue imbalances that are exacerbated by repetitive movements, often the source of injury.
